Use ATOM staking rewards to pay for AI

Not yet. Gatewayz yield-as-inference supports only ADA today, and ATOM is on the coming list. The plan is to turn Cosmos Hub staking rewards into the same kind of AI inference discount. Cosmos Hub delegation is native and keeps ATOM under the holder's keys, but bonded ATOM takes 21 days to unbond and shares in its validator's slashes.

You cannot use ATOM staking rewards to pay for AI on Gatewayz yet: ATOM is a coming asset, and the program runs on ADA only. The plan is to turn Cosmos Hub staking rewards into the same kind of inference discount ADA holders get, without taking custody. Cosmos Hub delegation allows that: delegated ATOM stays tied to the holder's account and under the holder's keys.

Pre-launch. The program is built and switched off on mainnet. A working demo runs on Cardano's preprod testnet with test ADA, by invitation. Not available to US or Canadian persons. Every participant must confirm they are not a US or Canadian person before linking a wallet.

How does native ATOM staking work?

A holder sends a Delegate transaction that bonds ATOM to one or more validators on the Cosmos Hub. Redelegating to a different validator takes effect immediately.

The ATOM stays tied to the holder's account and is controlled by the holder's keys, so delegation is non-custodial. The tokens are bonded, though, which means they are locked while delegated and through the unbonding period.

Rewards come from block provisions plus transaction fees. They accrue to delegators in proportion to their stake, after the validator's commission, and delegators claim them with a transaction.

How long does it take to unstake ATOM?

3 weeks, or 21 days. It is a chain parameter, so governance can change it, and the tokens stay locked for the whole period.

The Cosmos Hub docs we checked do not state a minimum delegation, so we do not give one.

Slashing applies. If a validator double signs, its delegators share in the slash. That is a risk to principal that Cardano delegation does not carry.

How does ATOM staking compare with ADA delegation?

Both keep the holder in control of their keys. ATOM is bonded and can be slashed; ADA is neither.

What would Gatewayz need to support ATOM?

A Cosmos Hub validator for holders to delegate to, a way to link a Cosmos account to a Gatewayz account, and a way for Gatewayz to receive the rewards it converts. On Cardano the rewards Gatewayz converts arrive as the pool's fees; on the Cosmos Hub the comparable piece is the validator's commission, and rewards have to be claimed with a transaction.

Custody fits the model: delegation is native, and the holder keeps the keys. Redelegation being immediate also means a holder could move to or away from a Gatewayz validator without waiting. The trade-offs are the 21-day unbonding when leaving staking entirely and double-signing slashing, which would put the choice of validator at the center of the risk. Both would be explained on this page and on Risks before launch.

Accounting would follow the ADA model: discount calculated only from rewards Gatewayz has actually received, never in advance.

    What can I use today?

ADA. It is the one asset the program supports: you delegate from your own wallet, your ADA never moves, and rewards become an inference discount. The program is pre-launch, with a working demo on Cardano's preprod testnet by invitation, and is not available to US or Canadian persons. See ADA and all assets.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I use ATOM staking rewards to pay for AI on Gatewayz today?

No. ATOM is a coming asset and no launch date is set. Today the program supports only ADA, and it is pre-launch.

Does delegating ATOM give a validator custody?

No. Delegated ATOM stays tied to your account and is controlled by your keys. It is bonded, so it is locked while delegated and during unbonding, but the validator cannot move it.

How long does it take to unbond ATOM?

21 days. It is a chain parameter that Cosmos Hub governance can change, and the tokens stay locked for the whole period. Moving to a different validator, by contrast, takes effect immediately.

    Can delegated ATOM be slashed?

Yes. Delegators share in the slash if their validator double signs. Cardano delegation has no slashing.

How are ATOM staking rewards paid?

They come from block provisions plus fees, accrue to delegators in proportion to stake after the validator's commission, and are claimed with a transaction.
