# Use TRX staking rewards to pay for AI

> Not yet. Gatewayz yield-as-inference supports only ADA today, and TRX is on the coming list. The plan is to turn TRON staking rewards into the same kind of AI inference discount. Under Stake 2.0, TRX stays frozen in the holder's own account and earns by voting for Super Representatives; unstaking takes 14 days on Mainnet.

**In one line:** TRX is coming, not live: stake never leaves the holder's account, and rewards come from voting for Super Representatives.

You cannot use TRX staking rewards to pay for AI on Gatewayz yet: TRX is a coming asset, and the program runs on ADA only. The plan is to turn TRON's native staking rewards into the same kind of [inference discount](/yield/glossary#inference-discount-balance) ADA holders get, without taking custody. TRON allows that: staked TRX stays frozen in the holder's own account, and voting does not move it.

**Pre-launch.** The program is built and switched off on mainnet. A working demo runs on Cardano's preprod testnet with test ADA, by invitation. Not available to US or Canadian persons. Every participant must confirm they are not a US or Canadian person before linking a wallet.

## Key takeaways

- TRX is not live in yield-as-inference, and no launch date is set.
- Under Stake 2.0, a holder stakes (freezes) TRX to get TRON Power, at 1 TRX = 1 TP, and votes that TP for Super Representatives and partners.
- Staked TRX stays in the holder's own account, frozen; voting does not transfer it anywhere.
- Unused TRON Power earns nothing: rewards come only from votes.
- Unstaking takes 14 days on Mainnet and two steps: unstake, then withdraw.

## How does native TRX staking work?

Under Stake 2.0, a holder stakes, or freezes, TRX and receives TRON Power (TP) one for one. They then vote that TP for Super Representatives and their partners. TP that is not used to vote earns nothing.

The staked TRX stays in the holder's own account, frozen. Voting does not transfer it to the Super Representative or anywhere else, so TRON staking is [non-custodial](/yield/glossary#non-custodial) in the same sense as Cardano [delegation](/yield/glossary#delegation), with the difference that the TRX is frozen rather than freely spendable.

Voters share the rewards of the Super Representatives and partners they back, after the representative's commission.

## How long does it take to unstake TRX?

14 days on Mainnet. It is a chain parameter that Super Representatives can change by vote, and it takes two steps: unstake, then withdraw after the waiting period.

The minimum is 1 TRX per staking operation. The TRON docs we checked do not describe slashing, so we do not say whether it applies.

## How does TRX staking compare with ADA delegation?

Both keep tokens in the holder's account. TRX is frozen and takes 14 days to release; ADA stays spendable.

| | TRX (native, Stake 2.0) | ADA (Cardano delegation) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Custody | Frozen in the holder's own account; voting moves nothing | Stays in your wallet; delegation moves nothing |
| Lock-up / unbonding | 14 days on Mainnet, changeable by Super Representative vote; unstake then withdraw | None; spend or switch pools at any time |
| Minimum | 1 TRX per staking operation | None in the sources we checked; a one-time 2 ADA stake address deposit, refunded on deregistration |
| Slashing | Not stated in the docs we checked | None |
| Reward cadence | Share of the backed representative's rewards after commission; the docs we checked give no payout schedule | Every 5-day [epoch](/yield/glossary#epoch); first rewards about 15 to 20 days after delegating |

## What would Gatewayz need to support TRX?

Something for holders to vote for, a way to link a TRON account to a Gatewayz account, and a way for Gatewayz to receive the rewards it converts. Voters on TRON back Super Representatives and partners, so Gatewayz would need to be, or work through, one of them. On Cardano the rewards arrive as the pool's fees; on TRON the comparable piece is the representative's commission.

Custody fits the model: stake never leaves the holder's account. The trade-offs are the freeze, which makes leaving take 14 days, and the gaps in what the official docs we checked say about slashing and payout timing. Those would have to be answered on this page and on [Risks](/yield/risks) before launch.

Accounting would follow the [ADA model](/yield/how-it-works): discount calculated only from rewards Gatewayz has actually received, never in advance.

## What can I use today?

ADA. It is the one asset the program supports: you delegate from your own wallet, your ADA never moves, and rewards become an inference discount. The program is pre-launch, with a working demo on Cardano's preprod testnet by invitation, and is not available to US or Canadian persons. See [ADA](/yield/assets/ada) and [all assets](/yield/assets).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I use TRX staking rewards to pay for AI on Gatewayz today?

No. TRX is a coming asset and no launch date is set. Today the program supports only ADA, and it is pre-launch.

### Does staking TRX move my tokens?

No. Under Stake 2.0, staked TRX stays frozen in your own account, and voting your TRON Power for a Super Representative does not transfer it anywhere.

### How long does it take to unstake TRX?

14 days on Mainnet, in two steps: unstake, then withdraw. The period is a chain parameter that Super Representatives can change by vote.

### What is TRON Power?

TRON Power (TP) is what you get for staking TRX, at 1 TRX = 1 TP. You vote it for Super Representatives and partners, and TP you do not vote earns nothing.

### What is the minimum to stake TRX?

1 TRX per staking operation, according to the TRON developer docs. Each staked TRX gives you 1 TRON Power to vote with.
